The layout of the vessel is adapted to the workflows of technicians and cargo on board. An unimpeded flow guarantees material and personnel to move between decks, offshore structures and quay side without elevations or obstructions. The container and pallet handling system and elevator are key in the logistic process on board the Walk to Work vessel.

Container and pallet handling system in the warehouse
To deploy the 300 m2 warehouse as efficient as possible, a large workshop of 50m2 was created directly adjacent to the warehouse. Furthermore several temperature and humidity controlled stores are located next to the warehouse. All of these serve a different purpose: a tools store of 35 m2, an electrical store of 50 m2, a mechanical store of 20 m2 and a store of 16 m2 for hazardous components.
The system is capable of moving 10 ft. and 20 ft. containers up to 12 tonnes with the spreader from the cargo hold in the weather deck into their position and vice versa.
The system can transfer euro-pallets up to 1.000 kg directly from a container into the elevator or to the workshop, which saves lots of time compared to using forklifts only

The elevator provides full unimpeded access for technicians and cargo to the gangway from the maindeck, where the warehouse and stores are situated. The weatherdeck and helideck are situated at the same level and have direct access to the elevator. The elevator, with a capacity of 2.000 kg, provides space to accommodate a forklift carrying a euro pallet (800mm x 1200mm) plus a minimum of three technicians. Next ›
